FAQ
Ordering
What is your minimum order quantity?
300 pairs per colour. That applies across all our categories, whether it is a running shoe, a soccer cleat or a sandal. The only exception is a style that needs a new mould of its own, where tooling cost sets a higher floor. If you are unsure which case you are in, send us the design and we will tell you before you commit.
Do you charge for samples?
Yes, 150 to 200 USD per pair depending on the construction. The fee is refunded against your production order. We charge it because a sample runs through the same pattern making, cutting and lasting steps as a production pair, on the same lines.
How long does a sample take?
7 to 10 days for most styles. Constructions with unusual tooling or specialist processes take longer, and we will tell you the number before you pay rather than after.
How long does it take to develop a new style from scratch?
About 30 days from drawing to confirmed sample. That covers pattern development, first sample, review, and correction rounds. Bring us a tech pack and it is faster; bring us a sketch and we will do the pattern work.
What is your production lead time?
15 to 30 days for a custom order once the sample is approved, depending on quantity and material availability.
Payment and shipping
What payment terms do you accept?
We work through Alibaba.com Trade Assurance, which holds your payment until you confirm the order is right, and we also accept letters of credit. Both give you protection on a first order with a supplier you have not met.
Can you ship DDP to the US or Europe?
For most destinations in the US and Europe, yes. The price you agree is the price landed at your door, with duties and clearance included. DDP depends on the import rules of the destination country, so there are places where it is not available. Tell us where you are importing to and we will confirm whether DDP works for that country before you commit. Where it does not, we quote FOB or CIF.
Which port do you ship from?
Xiamen is our usual port, about two hours from the Jinjiang factory. We can also ship through Guangzhou, Shenzhen or another port if your forwarder prefers it.
Manufacturing and origin
Who are you and how long have you been doing this?
MEIKE has been manufacturing footwear since 1999. Our development centre and China production base are in Jinjiang, Fujian, one of the three principal footwear manufacturing centres in China, and we operate a second wholly owned plant in Cambodia. We run our own factories rather than subcontracting production out.
Do you own your factory or do you subcontract?
We own and run our production lines. This matters more than it sounds: it means we can tell you the actual oven temperature and press pressure your shoes were made at, and we can change something mid run if a problem appears.
Can you produce outside China?
Yes. We run two wholly owned bases: the Jinjiang factory in Fujian, and a plant in Kampong Speu Province, Cambodia, which has been operating since 2019 with ten assembly lines and a capacity of 200,000 pairs a month. Both are ours. This is not a partner arrangement or a broker relationship.
If we produce in Cambodia, does anything change about the product?
No. Product development, material sourcing and quality standards are run by the same team in China for both bases. A programme can be produced in either location without redeveloping the product or requalifying the materials. What changes is the country of manufacture on your documents, not the shoe.
Which base should we produce in?
It depends on where you are importing to and what your sourcing policy requires. Tariff treatment varies by origin and HTS classification, and we are not going to guess at your duty position for you. Tell us your destination market and your HTS code, and we will quote from both bases so you can compare landed cost side by side.
How do you control quality?
Every style, regardless of order size, gets a full set of three standardised process documents covering die cutting, stitching and lasting. A 300 pair order goes through the same documentation as a 30,000 pair order. Every order gets 100 percent final inspection before it ships.
What constructions can you do?
Cold cement, and only cold cement. We do not run injection moulding or vulcanising. Focusing on one construction is why our sampling takes 7 to 10 days rather than the two to four weeks that is common, and it is why we can quote you real process parameters instead of generalities. If a fully sealed injection moulded unit is what your product needs, we will say so rather than take the order. You can read the actual temperatures, pressures and stitch densities we run.
Customisation
Can I put my own logo on the shoes?
Yes. Logos can be embroidered, printed, heat pressed, moulded into the outsole or debossed, depending on the material and the placement. Send us your artwork and we will tell you which method suits it.
What can I customise besides the logo?
Upper material and colour, lining, laces, eyelets, stitching thread, insole, outsole colour, sizing run, packaging and labelling. On a new mould you can change the outsole shape itself.
Do you help with design if we only have an idea?
Yes. We have an in house development team and our own tooling capability, so we can work from a reference photo or a rough sketch. Most brands come to us somewhere between a sketch and a full tech pack.
Still have a question?
Email us at duoduo@meike.cn or message us on WhatsApp. Tell us the style, the quantity and the market you are selling into, and we will come back with a real answer rather than a brochure.
